Spiritual warfare is no joke! We are always in a battle but some days and for certain reasons the battle will get harder. Recently I attended a service at my church called manifest. I love manifest night. It’s always an amazing experience to see the Holy Spirit move. It was at this service that my mother and I made the decision to stand in the gap for a loved one. Sometimes it takes constant prayer and agreement together to see a huge move of God. We are believing that this family member would come back home. I believe that it was because of this that a huge battle began in the spirit. I say this because ever since that night the enemy has been attacking me in my dreams and wearing me down. All this shows to me is that I need to continue praying and fighting for this person because the enemy is afraid. The only reason the enemy cares is when you are actively trying to save a person that he has a huge hold on. The day that the enemy thought he’d take away my sleep, I dove head first into my bible. I pulled out every verse I knew about spiritual warfare and googled many more. The word of God is our weapon that we need when we are faced with these battles. Spiritual warfare is a tiring battle. It is hard when you feel like you are alone. So I want to give these scriptures to you to encourage you to keep going and fight the good fight!

 

1. 1John 4:4

ESV "Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world."

This scripture is talking about how the Holy Spirit who lives within you is greater than the enemy. Remember that the enemy is not God’s adversary, he is ours. The enemy can’t compare to God. He has no authority over you or God. You are a child of God and have all authority over him through Jesus.

2. Ephesians 6:10-11

NIV: “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”

Our God is mighty! He gave us all that we need to battle against the schemes of the devil. We must remember that we are not weak because we are not going through this alone. God has equipped us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places.

3. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

NIV “4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,”

The weapons this scripture are talking about are our spiritual weapons. We do not battle it out physically. Our main weapons are prayer, the word of God and the Holy Spirit. There is so much power and encouragement you can get from these spiritual weapons. 

4. 1 Peter 5:8-9

NIV “8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”

This scripture is a reminder that you are not alone in this fight. That all believers are facing this battle with you. There are people that have won the good fight and you are no different than them. Stand firm in your faith and you will see that victory.

5. James 4:7

 ESV: "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

It’s very reassuring to know that we do not run away from the devil. He will flee from us. Stand your ground! Tell the enemy he must leave.

6. Romans 8:37-39

NIV “37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Take heart that there is nothing the enemy can do to separate you from God. God created us to be conquerors through Him. Any spiritual battle we may be going through, know that God has already won that battle. He has already paved the way for your victory.

7. Luke 10:19

NIV “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

You have this authority. Believe that what the word of God says is true and fight.

8. John 16:33

NIV “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Rest in God’s peace. There is no reason to worry whether or not God will see you through this battle. He will and already Has. just trust Him.

9. Romans 8:31

NIV “ What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”

This scripture has always been my favorite. As christians, we believe that our God, Yahweh, is the one and true God. He created life itself. If that is the God we serve than why be afraid of those who come against us. Their power is nothing in comparison. 

10. Psalm 44:5

NLT “Only by your power can we push back our enemies; only in your name can we trample our foes.”

Just remember that through all of this, it’s never our might or power that gets us through. It’s by the Holy Spirit. He strengthens us and by the name of Jesus. In our weakness, God is made strong. That’s why we can get through anything the enemy throws at us.
